The scope behind the estimate

Electrical estimating, with the detail in view.

Estimax prepares electrical takeoffs for electrical contractors and builders using services drawings, legends and schedules. Fittings and equipment are counted by type while documented routes and containment are measured separately. An electrical cost estimate can support tender review or package comparison when rates, specialist quotations and installation assumptions are agreed.

01

Lighting and controls

Match luminaire tags with the schedule, then identify switching and control components rather than counting fittings alone.

02

Power distribution

Reconcile boards, circuits and equipment connections with the issued design. Missing cable sizes or routes are raised for clarification.

03

Specialist systems

Keep data, security and emergency systems in their own breakdown. Confirm whether specialist supply, programming and commissioning are included.

What we measure

A scope you can
check, item by item.

Quantities follow the issued drawings and the package you engage us to assess. Select the relevant work, then agree the boundaries before measurement begins.

What affects the cost

Same trade.
Different cost drivers.

The estimate needs a stated basis. These are the details we examine before treating two quantities as equivalent work.

01

System definition

Fitting selections, board requirements and control arrangements influence costs beyond the number of outlets.

02

Routes and containment

Cable lengths, tray sizes, risers and congested pathways can change material and installation allowances.

03

Existing services and staging

Shutdowns, live-site restrictions and testing requirements need a clear scope and programme basis.

What you receive

A package ready
for your review.

  • Device and fitting counts by system
  • Documented cable and containment quantities

Deliverables, file format and the pricing basis are confirmed in your scope. Any marked-up drawings or additional reporting are agreed before work starts.

How the estimate is prepared

Follow the scope through to issue.

  1. 01

    Review legends and system boundaries

  2. 02

    Count fittings and equipment

  3. 03

    Trace documented routes

  4. 04

Check schedules and missing design information

  5. 05

Quantity take-off

Measure the work.
Explain the basis.

Devices are counted against the drawing legend and schedules. Cable and containment lengths are measured in linear metres where routes are shown, with vertical rises and termination allowances identified. Circuit or route assumptions are explicit when the design does not show a complete path. Board and equipment packages are separated for defined supplier scope.

Material scheduling

What goes into the package.

Schedules organise fittings, cables, conduits, trays, boards, outlets and accessories by system and specification. Data, security and specialist controls remain distinct from general power and lighting. Product substitutions or capacity selections are not made simply to complete an estimating schedule.

Labour & installation

How the work gets built.

Ceiling access, mounting heights, congested routes and fit-off sequencing affect installation. Existing-building shutdowns, restricted hours and staged commissioning need project-specific information. Testing, labelling and documentation allowances are included only where agreed and supported by the tender requirements.

Before you send the drawings

Your electrical
estimating questions.

Does an electrical estimate include cable lengths?

Yes, where routes are documented or a measurement basis is agreed. Unshown routing is treated as an identified assumption, not a confirmed installed length.

Do you design circuits or select cable sizes?

No. The estimate follows the issued electrical design. Capacity, protection and compliance decisions remain with the electrical designer and licensed contractor.

Can data and security be priced separately?

Yes. We can separate these systems for specialist quotations or exclude them, according to the agreed package boundaries.

Australia-wide service coverage

Local project detail.
National reach.

Estimax provides electrical estimating services for projects across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin and Regional Australia.

Share your documentation digitally. We confirm the project location, access conditions and required delivery date so these can inform the estimating brief.

Why Estimax

Construction understanding.
Useful estimating detail.

For electrical, the value is in connecting the quantities to the actual work. We keep the documented scope, measurement basis and outstanding questions available for review.

01

Read across the documents

Review plans, schedules and details together. Keep drawing references with the quantities and raise conflicting information.

02

Show what the price includes

Separate measured work, agreed allowances and exclusions so you can assess the basis behind the estimate.

03

Keep the next step clear

Agree the deliverables, communicate scope questions and issue documentation structured for your tender or procurement review.
